Guest guest
Sometimes the sensible mind tell us to do certain , obvious, sensible things .... and then there is the sankalpa mind which tells us to do certain things no matter what ... One of my many mini-sankalpas is to hang around at the Mandir till end of day on Sunday . And there is usually plenty to do - either in the kitchen or chanting or some transcribing work or something or other ... Yesterday , because the network at the Mandir was down, (and I am fervently hoping that our very own Billy Gates will help us fix this issue ) , I had to drive about 30-35 minutes to a disciple's house to teach the class on the Chandi. The obvious , sensible mind told me to leave for my apartment after the class was over and so save myself another hour of ride. Not the sankalpa mind ! I went back to the Mandir after being wined and dined by the beloved disciple, She-who-shall-remain-unnamed , and messed around in the kitchen. The network was still down, the sun was blazing hot and it was a very slow day. I made my way to the computer room to see if there was anything I could do offline . I was searching through the files when the door opened and Swamiji walked in ! He talked casually of this and that and said that he was going to chant the Rudri and would I like to join him ? Would I like to join him ? WOULD I LIKE TO JOIN HIM ? So we sat down, with a couple more folks and started chanting the Rudri - in the open air, lovely breeze and warm afternoon sun. I remember one verse in the Chamakam when I was running out of breath but just managed to make it and complete it. Swamiji turned to me with a knowing look and toned down his pace to chant with me ! What a great feeling it is to chant with him !!! And how it was worth an extra hour's drive ! But the story doesnt end here ! Maa gave me a packet of upma to eat for the evening, made with her own loving hands. Not only did I get the privilege of chanting with Swamiji, also got prasad from Maa's hands ! What a glorious Sunday ! Sometimes it seems like a small and even insignificant decision - but these little decisions snowball and change the course of events and ultimately our lives... JAI MAA ! Guest guest
Dear Jose, Yes , I am blessed. Here is what I am finding - the more we do sadhana and the more committed we are , the more Nature seems to conspire to make things happen, and the more luckier and blessed we seem to get. Now that sadhana is becoming evermore the purpose of my life, things are smoothing out for me. The road is getting less bumpy. Even at those times when I do hit little bumps, I rapidly find my way back onto course. Sadhana is what I live for. Sadhana is what enlivens me. Sadhana is a wonderful happening. It is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. The is nothing better for me to build other than my own sadhana.
