Guest guest
Ever notice how when we keep coming back to a chapter after a while we begin to find deeper meanings ? This is what happened to the Kavach with me. The Kavach is a suit of armor and an invocation to protect the various parts of my body. "Fine, cool" or so I thought. And then I lost my temper yesterday , suffered the consequences and got to see the Kavach in a new light . I saw how EASILY I change from a happy person to an angry one. I may be full of good thoughts, and then this random stray thought pops up from nowhere and rules the roost, and I am at its mercy completely. The drama of Chandi all over again. Today, I heard Swamiji's teachings (online at http://www.shreemaa.org/online.htm ) on the armor of the Goddess and it made more sense to me why I would want to chant that chapter. He says and I paraphrase : For the welfare of our OWN SOUL we should not take one step without putting on this armor. If anybody is entering our aura and changing our vibration , then we should put on the armor of the Goddess. In my understanding , it applies not just to any person entering our aura, but also to any thought that slips past our vigilant minds. When we decide that the vibration that we want to protect is that " I am one with the Goddess " , we seal it with the Armor, and so wherever we go we are impervious to other thoughts and emotions. Swamiji says "We are empowering you to protect the vibration you want inside. " It made me realize that the Kavach is way beyond "protect this part of the body" ... but more like "protect and safeguard the fledgeling good intentions, the tender and gentle higher attitudes that I want to cultivate, the bhav that I want to maintain " Oh yes, the Kavach is a lot more ...it is a way of reminding ourselves to stay in the zone. And of course we continue the chant of the Chandi .... because the Sadhana is everything .
Guest guest
Latha, Thank you for this reminder to protect and nuture that which we already have. This business of protecting the aura is fascinating. How does it work? What, exactly, is it protecting us against? This is definately part of the esoteric side of the tantra, the science of the subtle processes of Nature. I suppose there isn't much use in learning very much about these processes until we are purified enough to sense them ourselves. As a side note, I have read, and my experience seems to bear it out, that sudden possession by passionate anger is part of the heart's purification process. It seems you have to know what is in there before you can let it go.
