Guest guest
All First I would like to thank Shri Latha and Swami Satyananda on answering my previous question on the mantra "om namah shivaya karatala kara prishthabyam astraya phat." As I understand by the answers giving to me the mantra "om namah shivaya karatala kara prishthabyam astraya phat", is a method of sealing the syllables of the Panchakshara Mantra that has been established in the Kara Nyasa that starts in page 19. Since "the Tattva Mudra is the mudra of the Principle, and it refers to the establishing of divinity within and most often indicates those places on the body which are different seats of the various energies." (From http://www.shreemaa.org/article19.htm). Based on this definition I have made the following assumption for the establishment of the Panchakshara Mantra in the Kara Nyasa. >From Tattva Mudra touch the thumb with the index finger and then each of the four fingers with the thumb, then recite the five following Mantras as you do so in both the hands. Touch the thumb with the index finger 1 om nam angushtabhyam namaha Touch the thumb with the index finger 2 om mah tarjanibhyam swaha Touch the thumb with the middle finger 3 om shim madhyamabhyam vashat Touch the thumb with the ring finger 4 om vam anamikabhyam hum Touch the thumb with the little finger 5 om yah kanishthikabhyam voushat Questions: 1 Is the assumption correct? 2 Is the Kara Nyasa to be simultaneously in both hands? Or one at a time? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Messenger. http://messenger./
Guest guest
Namaste Jose, You are very welcome. Tattva mudra is mudra by itself , it does not apply to kara nyasa. Tattva mudra is touching the base of the ring finger with the thumb, and you would use this mudra for the hrdayadi nyasa, but not for kara nyasa. Kara nyasa is described below . > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your index finger > > 1 om nam angushtabhyam namaha > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your index finger > > 2 om mah tarjanibhyam swaha > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your middle finger > > 3 om shim madhyamabhyam vashat > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your ring finger > > 4 om vam anamikabhyam hum > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your little finger > > 5 om yah kanishthikabhyam voushat And yes, you would do both the hands at the same time. Hope this answered your question. If you are still in doubt, please let me know where you would like me to help. Guest guest
Dear Shri Latha: Thank you again. I guess I was trying to find a start position for the hands in that Kara Nyasa. My next question would be: Would it matter in what position the hands are in? Thanks Jose --- Latha Nanda <lathananda wrote: > Namaste Jose, > You are very welcome. > > Tattva mudra is mudra by itself , it does not apply > to kara nyasa. > Tattva mudra is touching the base of the ring finger > with the thumb, > and you would use this mudra for the hrdayadi nyasa, > but not for > kara nyasa. > > Kara nyasa is described below . > > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your > index finger > > > > 1 om nam angushtabhyam namaha > > > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your > index finger > > > > 2 om mah tarjanibhyam swaha > > > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your > middle finger > > > > 3 om shim madhyamabhyam vashat > > > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your > ring finger > > > > 4 om vam anamikabhyam hum > > > > Touch the top of your thumb with the top of your > little finger > > > > 5 om yah kanishthikabhyam voushat > > And yes, you would do both the hands at the same > time. > > Hope this answered your question. Guest guest
Namaste Jose, Just prior to the Kara nyas is the dhyanam - in which we place a flower in our left hand , cover with our right hand and offer to the deity at the end of reciting the dhyanam. Once this offering of flower is over, we put our hands in front of us and start the nyasa 'om nam angushtabhyam namah' etc Did that answer your question? Please let me know. Guest guest
Dear Shri Latha: It sure does answers my questions but please bear with me. I want to clear all my doubts on the Kara Nyasa. Here are hopefully my final questions on the Kara Nyasa: 1 The Kara Nyasa is done with both hands simultaneously. Correct? 2 Both hands are in front. Correct? 3 Are the fingers spread out? Or does it matter? 4 I am assuming that the palms of the hands are facing upwards. Is this correct? Thank you Jose --- Latha Nanda <lathananda wrote: > Namaste Jose, > > Just prior to the Kara nyas is the dhyanam - in > which we place a > flower in our left hand , cover with our right hand > and offer to the > deity at the end of reciting the dhyanam. > > Once this offering of flower is over, we put our > hands in front of > us and start the nyasa 'om nam angushtabhyam namah' > etc > > Did that answer your question? harianant
I am new to this forum. Great to find highly enlightening information about karanyasa. I have been advised to do this karanyasa but with a difference. I have been adivsed to simply breath in when placing thumb in the bottom of each finger and breath out when moving the thumb to reach the top of finger. I have not been advised of this mantra which you have mentioned. Is this method correct? other than this mantra, i am doing other things as you said. Kindly advise me about the significance of this karanyasa and how it helps? I will be grateful if Lathaji can find time to reply to my query. ramIyer
I am new too. My question is around the importance of performing karanyasa and how and why does it come in all chants? It differs from chant to chant in some aspects. what is the basis for this difference. I am very curious and wanted to know!
