Guest guest
On the night of 4th May 2004, I had been to Gadmukteshvar – Ganga – for my mantra japa in Sri Vidya, left Delhi at 9.30pm, 6 priests of Delhi & I, in an omni van, reached the place at mid night 12.15am Im remembered of Abirami Bhatar of Thirukkadaiyur - Tamilnadu. He says a new moon day as full moon day, and the king says he will execute him. He sings a hymn in praise of the Logamatha. She, the divine mother, took her ear ring and hurled on the sky, which was so lustrous, that it shined like a moon – a poorna chandran in the sky. Why im writing is – it was a full moon day. Due to eclipse, it got totally hidden; then again it came out from its red, and become a beautiful full moon. It was a splendid sight. The sastras confirm that one gets into the path of Srividya Upasana when very few births are left and such a person who has done a Srividya sadhana in his earlier births starts spiritually again from the point where he left in his earlier birth and he/she alone gets initiated in the lore of Srividya. So DEVI nurtures such a person from the childhood both materially and spiritually -- because before he/she has chosen this path, SHE HAS CHOSEN to be HER devotee. TRANSFORMATION TAKES TIME -- the secret of worship is to learn to wait on the deity in adoration. He who knows how to wait becomes the MASTER OF TIME. Lots of Sadhus, Saints, and Like minded religious people had come there for the holy dip. During the election heat, the most common axiom used was "INDIA SHINING". I was able to see India shining – in the Ganges – after doing the Pooja and Japa in the chill waters, people sang mangala arathi songs and lit lamps and let it float on the holy waters. It was such a spectacular sight to see the bank of the holy river – with lots of starlets floating thru' towards east. We all knelt down in the waters between 12.20 am to 3.50 am, and chanted the following mantras – Om Gam Ganapathayae namaha – 1008 times, Om Namo Narayanaya - 1008 times Om Nama Shivayae - 1008 times. Surya Gayathri - 108 times. Navakshari - 108 times. Water was flowing around our neck swiftly, (due to heavy rains the previous day), and we got energized by the holy river. Many people were praying, by facing the moon, standing at a stretch for the whole 3hours. It was a great refreshment for the body and the soul, we didn't feel tiredness the next day – though we were awake for the whole night . I cherished with Prayers on that auspicious Grahana punya kaalam on 4.5.05, in great thankful memories and homage to my Dad. Bakthi is still in the minds of the Indians. This was evident during my trip to the Ganges. Eagerly awaiting the next lunar eclipse to see Mother Ganga. With best wishes n prayers, Aravind.M 7pm, 30.5.05, New Delhi PS :- Picture of Eclipse stored in photos section

Guest guest
Often I have seen the indian folks standing in Ganga and offering water into the Ganga river from a small pot . This pot would be slowly tilted as to let the water flow in one small stream into the river. Does any one know what are the prayers/mantras recited and what is this process called ? Guest guest
Namaste All, Generally this is done thrice a day - 1. Dawn 2. Noon 3. Dusk. This process is called " submitting Argyam ". This is considered as worshiping Sun God ( Surya Bagahavan ),and generally Surya Gayathri Mantra is recited during this process. The belief is that Water is the most cherished food for the Sun. ( It sounds funny na ? But it is the fact). So this is more like offering oblation to Sun God. ( Scientifically also, he makes the water evoporate by his hot radinace and he gives us back the same water as rain.) the noble thing behind this is - water from a swamp, water from a pure water body, all are evoporated ( with out differentiation between good n bad water ). they get purified in the evoporation, condensation process - and we get pure potable water as rain. Like wise,We offer our Prayers and thoughts to the God. He cleanses our physical and menatal faculty, makes as a pure individuals. Also - as in the Bagavath Geetha , the inner meaning behind this process of Arhyam is " Every thing emenates from the infinite power . It comes from it and goes back into it." As Swami Vivekananda says " The concepts and philosophies in Hinduism are so deep & voluminous and it would take several hundred years for a person to understand, appreciate and assimilate them." That holds right. Guest guest
Aravind Maharajan this part of your post interested me in particular: "TRANSFORMATION TAKES TIME -- the secret of worship is to learn to wait on the deity in adoration. He who knows how to wait becomes the MASTER OF TIME." yes, how to wait. sometimes i think i understand this, and then the world changes all pell-mell and i am once again being mastered by time, not master of time. ahh, someday. now i will wait. thanks for the great post, steve connor , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > On the night of 4th May 2004, I had been to Gadmukteshvar – Ganga – > for my mantra japa in Sri Vidya, left Delhi at 9.30pm, 6 priests of > Delhi & I, in an omni van, reached the place at mid night 12.15am > > Im remembered of Abirami Bhatar of Thirukkadaiyur - Tamilnadu.
