Guest guest
Took this from the Gospel of Ramakrishna .Here Ramakrishna talks about the two kinds of attitudes that a spiritual aspirant can have. Jai Maa Latha ======================================================== "It is no doubt necessary to practise spiritual discipline; but there are two kinds of aspirants. The nature of the one kind is like that of the young monkey, and the nature of the other kind is like that of the kitten. The young monkey, with great exertion, somehow clings to its mother. Likewise, there are some aspirants who think that in order to realize God they must repeat His name a certain number of times, meditate on Him for a certain period, and practise a certain amount of austerity. An aspirant of this kind makes his own efforts to catch hold of God. But the kitten, of itself, cannot cling to its mother. It lies on the ground and cries, 'Mew, mew!' It leaves everything to its mother. The mother cat sometimes puts it on a bed, sometimes on the roof behind a pile of wood. She carries the kitten in her mouth hither and thither. The kitten doesn't know how to cling to the mother. Likewise, there are some aspirants who cannot practise spiritual discipline by calculating about japa or the period of meditation. All that they do is cry to God with yearning hearts. God hears their cry and cannot keep Himself away. He reveals Himself to them." ===================================================== Friends. Fun. Guest guest
Hi Latha, Here's synchronicity for you. Last night at about 9:30 Krista and I were on a walk, coming towards home about a block away when we heard this "MEW MEW" up the road. We saw a calico cat on the left side and thought, "Oh it must be her." We crossed to see if she wanted something but she ran as we approached. Crossing back and heading toward home again we heard, "MEW MEW!" again. Looking for the sound we walked forward and finally saw it. A little kitten mewing at the top of its lungs for Momma. We don't know if we had just seen momma, but the kitten was looking that direction. The kitten was dirty and hurt, we checked a couple of houses to see if they knew who it belonged to, but no luck. So we brought her home. She was filthy and she has a bad head injury. She can't move any muscles on the right side of her face (except that nictitating membrane under her right eye). We were concerned for her and thought about taking her to the emergency hospital. Krista offered her some water and the kitten drank and then after we gave her a bath in warm water and shampoo killing most of the fleas (not all we'll do it again today) she ate some softened cat food. We had never heard anything Mew that loudly. And your story seemed so timely and so beautiful. We'll take her to the vet tomorrow and see if she's going to be okay. She's very spunky, already litter trained and she's eating so I think things look good.
