Guest guest
Thank you for this lovely descritpive mail. During kumbha mela and other festive observance we see taking dip the holy river becames a practice . Often we see three times immersion by holding the nose is done . What is the proper methodlogy of taking dip in the holy river and what are the accompanying mantras. Is offering of argyham as Arvindji mentioned and reciting Ganga Stotram( Cant forget Shree Maa's lovely voice on this ) is done in this process as well? Anybody have an input on this otherwise I hope Lathaji could pass this to our beloved Swamji as well...... (Scientifically also, he makes the water evoporate byhis hot radinace and he gives us back the same wateras rain.) the noble thing behind this is - water froma swamp, water from a pure water body, all areevoporated ( with out differentiation between good nbad water ). they get purified in the evoporation, condensation process - and we get pure potable wateras rain. As Swami Vivekananda says " The concepts andphilosophies in Hinduism are so deep & voluminous andit would take several hundred years for a person tounderstand, appreciate and assimilate them."That holds right.Jai Maa,aravind. --- kanna krishnan <kanna_krishnan2002 >wrote: > Namste Lathaji,> > Often I have seen the indian folks standing in Ganga> and offering water into the Ganga river from a> small pot . Guest guest
Namaste Ji, During the process of taking holy dip in rivers, it is done 3 times in line with the 3 thathvaas ( concepts). 1. Aathma Thatwa. 2. Vidya Thatwa. 3. Siva Thatwa. If u look at the 3 concepts above, we can corelate with the state of mind or stages of advancements of a person towards God. 1. In aathma thathwa, he makes his 1st attempt towards God realisation. 2. In Vidya thatwa he makes attempts to learn , get advice, dhiksha (intiation) from a Guru and practices 3. This is the ultimate objective, wherein, the man gets the Godly characters with in him, Apart from the regualar mantra one chants, one can visulaise the 3 parts of Shiv Ling. The upper part, the midle part and the lower part during the 3 dips. Any typical Shiva Lingam has 3 parts - 1. Bhrama - God of Creation - Srishti Thatwa 2. Vishnu - God of Blessings n Boon - Rakshaga thatwa 3. Rudra - God of Destruction (of Maya & evils) - Samhara thatwa So we can contemplate on all the 3 Gods in each and every dip we take, and ask for appologies for the sins done by ( Mind,Words,Deeds) and ask for blessings and salvation. Generally it also depends on what our Guru tells us to do. In teh Veda there are certain Mangala Snana Mantras which are recited while taking bath. This is recited while doing Abishek to Idols also. We can recite Gayathri or Om Nama Shivaya . Before each dip , we should pray to God asking for applogies for the sins done knowingly or unknowlingly. As u mentioned I listened to the melodious Devotional Ganga Stotra recited by Shree Maa from the website. It was really great. Common people like us can contemplate on our Guru, then our Parents and then on God (Devi) while taking the 3 holy dips. This is my humble answer to the elite group. Jai Maa, aravind. 1.6.04 - 11.15pm.new delhi - India. --- kanna krishnan <kanna_krishnan2002 wrote: > Namste Arvind, > > Thank you for this lovely descritpive mail.
