Guest guest
I was talking with Swamiji some time ago and asking him how to handle the periods of "loss of interest" when doing the sadhana. IMO , "Loss of Interest" is a demon too. He said and I paraphrase "The days that I chant when I DONT feel like chanting are the days I get the most benefit " I thought about what he said and I understood that "Loss of Interest" happens only when there is no commitment on my side. When I am committed , seems like Nature conspires to make things happen. And I feel a BURST of energy when I WILL do what I promised to myself. Here is something that I read on the web regarding commitment . It is called "Until One Is Committed " . My thanks to the unknown author . ===================================================================== Until one is committed There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, Always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), There is one elementary truth, The ignorance of which kills countless ideas And splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself, Then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one That would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision Raising in one's favor all manner Of unforeseen incidents and meetings And material assistance, Which no man could have dreamt Would have come his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets: Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. ===================================================================== JAI MAA - may we all be committed to our goals. Guest guest
Steve, I don't envy you a bit. Don't worry, your desire for God will make things right again (but you know that). I too, am going through a rough patch, but it's all internal (well, mostly). Don't really know what it's about, but I do know if I keep up the practice it will eventually sort itself out. I'd offer to help, but, well, I'm two thousand or so miles away (convenient, huh?). Guest guest
haha good one chris! all this stuff really takes time. internal or external, somehow we work thru it all. it seems like, it would be a good thing, to live to 200 or so to really be able to look back at a stretch of changes and say "i got it, i got the lessons." peace, s , "Chris Kirner" <chriskirner1956> wrote: > Steve, > > I don't envy you a bit. > > Don't worry, your desire for God will make things right again (but > you know that). > > I too, am going through a rough patch, but it's all internal (well, > mostly).
