Question from Latha:

I have wondered about the significance of the statements that

come after the 108 names of Durga in the Chandi Path.

The statements that begin with "om aim atmatattvam sodhayami namah

svaaha ...."

I saw a post from one of the members that talks about 3 tattvas.

"1. Atma Tattva.

2. Vidya Tattva.

3. Siva Tattva.

If u look at the 3 concepts above, we can correlate

with the state of mind or stages of advancements of a person

towards God.

1. In Atma Tattva, he makes his 1st attempt towards God

realisation.

2. In Vidya Tattva he makes attempts to learn , get

advice, diksha (initiation) from a Guru and practices

3. This is the ultimate objective, wherein, the man

gets the Godly characters with in him "

Could you please confirm the validity of the above statements

Swamiji's response :

That is very good. But there as many ways to understand these

principles as there are sadhus.

I think that Swamiji met so many sadhus in India and was always so

open to learning that he encourages that same openness to learning in

us.

such a huge difference this makes. it is the true universal attitude.

i have had gurus, they want to be the only one. that is crazy, it is

separation. unity, unity, this is what we want.

I think that openness to other perspectives is the sign of a true

lover of Truth.

Not, of course, intellectual relativism, where every perspective has

equal value, but where there is an openness to allow ideas in for

contemplation and testing against those things we have experienced as

truth.
