Guest guest
Question from Latha: What makes chanting the Chandi a more powerful practice than say for example chanting the Gita. Swamiji's response : All the scriptures are powerful. But there are special qualities in the Chandi. The meaning, watching all of our negativities being destroyed; watching Her come to life in Chapter Two; the rishis experiencing extreme joy; in Chapter Four She asks for what we are praying; again in Chapters Eleven and Chapter Thirteen She grants boons; in Chapter Five we say that we are doing the same sadhana as the Gods performed and You made them divine, why will You not do the same for us? Guest guest
latha now i am resuming my practice after the moving hiatus i am approaching it somewhat like ardis with doing a chapter or more at a time. for elana's benefit, as well as my own, i read both the sanskrit and english text outloud. last night we read the negativities being destroyed [she got a little upset with the limbs being cut off!] ... anyway, swamiji's point is well taken ... the bhagavad gita is obviously REMARKABLE! ... and yet the Chandi is, in a very different way ... really, i never read such a real-time account of the destruction of ego, anywhere. to me it re-asserts the power of the ego, so we do not underestimate it. there are no light-weight fixes to this spiritual challenge we face as human beings. this does not make it morbid or heavy, it makes it as interesting and compelling as it could possibly be. we have a funny little alcove by the stairs of the new house, my wife and i will use it for meditation. the hiatus made me re-think my schedule, so i will be practicing regularly at 5:00 a.m. finally, the chandi path inspires us to see gods and goddesses everywhere. this is a blessing, i have also never encountered this inspiration in such detail. detail -- that is what the chandi path brings us, real detail in sadhana. it is all very beautiful. thank you all, thank you shree maa, swamiji, parvati, latha, all forum members. steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Question from Latha: > > What makes chanting the Chandi a more powerful practice than say for > example chanting the Gita. > > > Swamiji's response : > > All the scriptures are powerful.
