Guest guest
Swamiji had said sometime ago that he would know the stage of the development of the student by the questions that they asked. Personally I too find that my questions are very different when I dont do sadhana (mostly speculation and i want PROOF that God exists) vs when I do ( more of an inner trust and wanting to learn how I should tune myself to the Divine) . Here is something I saw on the web on questions and how they change when we do our practices. ========================================= Once a monk Maulikyaputta asked the Buddha several metaphysical questions - the nature of creation, the existence of God, and the post-nirvana state. The Buddha declined to give answers just then but promised to do so after one year on the condition that Maulikyaputta should observe complete unbroken silence and simply watch his thoughts as they passed through his mind. Maulikyaputta agreed and spent one silent year just watching his thoughts. At first his mind was like a humming beehive assailed by a multitude of diverse thoughts. Gradually, these thoughts began to subside and by year-end, the humming bees had vanished and he was freed from the tyranny of thought processes. A year later the Buddha called upon him and asked him to put forward his questions and he would answer them. If Maulikyaputta did not ask, then why should the Buddha answer and for what? He added that from his response it will be known whether he had faithfully followed the condition of absolute silence. Maulikyaputta came and bowing low before the master said that he had no questions now as his mind was completely at peace. ==========================================
