Guest guest
Dear Kalachandra and All, A samput is the addition of a mantra before or after (or both) a verse of the Chandi. Its purpose is to expand and deepen the recitation and practice. This is an advanced technique and I only know that Swamiji advises this for people who have mastered sitting in one Asan for the entire Chandi . Here is how I have seen a samput used - in chanting/singing the Shiva Chalisa for example . The "Om Namah Shivaya" can be used as a samput mantra So the original verse Jai Girija Pati Dinadayala Sada Karat Santan Pratipala Bhala Chandrama Sohat Nike Kanan Kundal Nagaphani Ke will be transformed to Jai Girija Pati Dinadayala Om Namah Shivaya Sada Karat Santan Pratipala Om Namah Shivaya Bhala Chandrama Sohat Nike Om Namah Shivaya Kanan Kundal Nagaphani Ke Om Namah Shivaya Hope that answered your question.
