Guest guest
Mike's question to Swami about: Regarding chapter 9, verse 35 of the Chandi "Emerging from the heart pierced by the pike came a spirit of great strength and valor, crying Stop!" This reminded me of something I had read early in the part about the battle between Durga and the army of the thoughts. How compassionate is the Heart of the Mother! The passages occur after the death of the Great Ego, "that excessively forceful and evil thought," and the "destruction of his army of perturbations..." The "Divine Ones ... "began to sing a hymn of praise to the Supreme Empress." As part of their chanting of praise, they ask: "Why is it that your once glance does not reduce all thoughts to ashes? So that being purified by the weapons these thoughts may be raised to the higher worlds. You are so benevelent that you think for the welfare of even your enemies." (Verse 19, page 199) And again (Verse 23, page 201) they say: "In slaying these enemies, you have protected the entire three worlds. By dying on the battlefield, these enemies have arrived in heaven, and you have dispelled all our fears of thoughts. We bow to you!" Reading this gave me great comfort...even as I work so Durga may tear apart my negative thoughts and all thoughts that keep me separate from Her, I feel that even these thougths receive Her Compassion. Q for Swamiji: do you have any commentary on these passages and my interpretation of them? Do they show the Mother's Compassion? Am I misunderstanding anything about the passages?
