Guest guest
Also this might be of use, here is the typed out Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra along with the translation from the Shree Maa web site. I included the Om in brackets because that is heard in the recording of Shree Maa and her devotees chanting. There is a very nice rhythm to this in case you have not yet listened to it. My wife was quite charmed by the cucumber reference. I recall Suzuki Roshi being referred to as "Little Cucumber" ... now we know why. I'm not sure where I got the transliteration, so if there are errors let me know. steve ===== [Om ...] Trayambakam Yajaamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam, Urvaarukmiva Bandhanaan Mrityormukshiya Mamritaat We worship the Father of the three worlds, who emits the excellent fragrance which nourishes all. As a cucumber is released from its bondage to the stem, so may we be freed from Death to dwell in immortality.

Guest guest
Its an excellent example. when we see pumpkin climber, (plant), we can see big riped pumpkins along with the climber. form the distance it will look like as if its attached to the climber still. but if we go closer and see, we will come to know, that the riped pumpkin has already swered off its connection with the main plant/ like wise, we too need to have a detached attachement. all these worldly relations, affection, sarrows , happiness, materialistic life, trials , triumphs are transitory. Attachement with these transitory things will not liberate us from immortality. so we need to have a detached attachement with all worldly things so that we are level headed and more focussed in our final goal - that is attaining sayujyam, and going back and rejoining, to that universal energy - from which our atma has emenated. so lets all try to become like that ripe pumpkin. Om Nama shivaya, Jai Maa. aravind. --- Chris Kirner <chriskirner1956 wrote: > Steve, > > It should be urvaarukamiva. > > Chris > > > , "Steve Connor" > <sconnor@a...> > wrote: > > Also this might be of use, here is the typed out > Maha Mrityunjaya > > Mantra along with the translation from the Shree > Maa web site.
