Guest guest Posted July 8, 2004 Report Share Posted July 8, 2004 Berijoy, "Chalisa" means "forty" - in this case it refers to 40 verses in praise of Durga and starts on page 32 of the Durga Puja Beginner book. (The adventures of Durga". The 40 verses does not include the the doha (jaya shri durga ambika ..) , it begins with "namo namo durge sukha harini" on page 33 and ends with "mo kaham ....bhavani" on page 46, followed by another doha "simhavahini ...dvara" . The verses between the dohas are 40 in number. The puja is to be done daily . Hope that helps.
