Guest guest
Hi Karen/Mike, Parampara....means, literally, "one after another" or "succession". It is the lineage of the teacher or guru...a linkage of empowerment that continues after death of the body... (Shri Guru, Parama Guru, Parameshti Guru, Divya Guru, Sharanam: I take refuge in the Guru, the Guru's Guru....etc.).Parampara originally meant the transmission of hidden or esoteric knowledge, handed down from teacher to pupil orally. Receiving initiation into the parampara of the guru is a huge blessing, requiring a state of complete openness and emptiness. The Parampara can be a way of "placing" your guru in a tradition that can be extremely helpful in times of confusion, although there are sometimes Avatars or self-born teachers who do not fit into this description. love, sadhvi
