i don't represent the mandir but here is a filler answer until latha

or someone can respond.

 

the ishta deva is one's preferred image of divinity. this could be a

guru, a picture of jesus, even a stone or a hill. it is very

personal and is your manifested link to the divine.

 

sankalpa is both a desire and a commitment. it is your vow,

saying "i will do such and such" ... best suited to a spritual

activity, such as "i will do 100 mantras each day for a week." there

is a specific form the sankalpa can be expressed in that can be

recited or read before the action itself is made. latha knows it

very well.
