Guest guest
I remember many years ago , when I was helping out a Swami in India. I was just fresh out of college, in no particular hurry to get a job and spent some time helping to organize this Swamiji's books , office etc. I musta spent a few happy months doing that and then ...came the pressure of looking for a "real" job, one whose rewards were from this world. And so I got a job. What a tough time I had in the beginning ... In India, unlike the US , you dont call your managers by their first names, they are "Sir" or "Madam" as the case maybe. Accordingly, I had this nice boss and everytime I had to answer him and say "Yes Sir" , I used to go "Yes SWAM....er...um..huh Sir " . You see, I had gotten so used to "Yes Swamiji" that I was calling my boss unknowingly "Swamiji" and when I was concious of the fact , used to stop half way through and gulp or muddle the rest of the word but I am pretty darn sure I musta let a few unconscious "Yes Swamiji" to my puzzled boss. And it is happening again .... in the US. I almost caught myself again today ... instead of calling one of my coworkers by his name... I called him " oh but Swa....er..um...huh... forgetwhatiwasgonnasay" and whats worse , my mind is so much about chanting that in one of my emails in the office I wrote "I chanted the following parameters in the database " instead of "I changed the following parameters " and got a few snickering laughs from my DBA. Lord help me , and these errors dont get caught in spell check !!!
Guest guest
That's hillarious Latha! See how our minds become what we fill them with? You can call me Swami anytime, I'd be honored. I used to work for Atari Games. At one time they were developing a driving game with a car that had wings which you could flip out at the press of a big dashboard button. It was very easy to pass others when you have wings. So easy I got in the habit of hitting the button often. One day I was coming up to a light in my REAL car and I saw stopped traffic. I reached up to the dash board to hit my "wings" button to go over them. I came to my senses as soon as I realized there wasn't a button to press and jammed on my brakes... My lesson was: be careful how much you do of one particular thing because after a while all that you do will become that particular thing. In your case: YOU GO GIRL! If everyone becomes Swami and everything becomes chanting, then your life will be all about service to the goddess. You will have reached enlightenment. *hugs* Brian "In the begining, the universe was created. Guest guest
That was very facinating and funny also. i was laughing on seeing the msg. ( i.e smiling in appreciation)., and my colleague who saw me smiling towards the monitor, asked what has happened and told there was no laughing gas leakage inside the office,. suddenly i got remebered of Humphry Davy, who invented this nature of laughing gas. during that process of his discovery, he inhaled excess of nitrous oxide and reached an ecstacy stage. ( near unconscious stage). when he came bak to normalcy, he told that "I saw a totally different world around him.that is - there was no material substrate ( living & non living matter ) in it . this earth was filled with full of thoughts only." Yeah, our thoughts travel across the ether. good thoughts give good results to the whole universe. That is the reason why our ancestors recommended sat sang and praying for others, and joint prayers. like we breathe through , day in and day out, at one point of time, this bakthi bhavana becomes so very diffused in our acts and deeds , so that our personality also changes and our thought process is in unison with God always that we fumble at times. thts a gud funny experience every now and then. Thanks and regards, aravind. --- Latha Nanda <lathananda wrote: > I remember many years ago , when I was helping out a > Swami in India. > I was just fresh out of college, in no particular > hurry to get a job > and spent some time helping to organize this > Swamiji's books , > office etc. I musta spent a few happy months doing > that and > then ...came the pressure of looking for a "real" > job, one whose > rewards were from this world. > > And so I got a job. > > What a tough time I had in the beginning ...
