Follow up questions from group members regarding the different types

of wood that can be used in a homa. - Please check original message

How about dried TULSI? We use dried tulsi stems for homa. Is it ok?

It is ok, but too thin. It will burn in an instant! You can use as

an incense, but not as a yajna wood.

 

Question from Sankar Viswanathan :

 

Here in Kolkata we get mostly Vilva(Bel) and Mango wood. Are these

O.K?

 

Swamiji's response : Yes. Excellent!

 

Ganesha requests : Can you please give the name of the trees in

English or Latin.

1) Vansh - oak

2) Pipal - Banyan.

3) Polash - Maple

4) Damar - Fig

5) Aam - Mango
