Though there must be a "real" answer to this... I always view that little fellow as the ego in the right place. See how happy he is once he is at the Lord's foot?! Guest guest
hi parvati yes he is the ego. he is being trampled. but this is a blissfull condition ultimately. but what about beyond even that. in terms of lila. who is at the feet of nataraj and why is he there? nataraj's emanation of duality is at the feet of nataraj. duality is created then unified then absobed again. so nataraj is at the feet of nataraj. om om om love to you parvati please send our regards to the mother. steve c. , "parv108" <parv108> wrote: > Here is one question one devotee asked about Nataraj: > Who is at the feet of Nataraj and why is he there? Guest guest
Pranams Beloved Parvati. I think mankind is at the feet of Nataraj. Nataraj is alive and energetic and will release from the lethargy/pain of ignorance and attachment in the 3 worlds. Guest guest
It could be our individual identity which in the course of time becomes quite perisable. If our mortality is devoted toward the purpose of merging with God there is reason to take joy in our own passing. Ultimately the finite must return to the infinite. , "parv108" <parv108> wrote: > Here is one question one devotee asked about Nataraj: > Who is at the feet of Nataraj and why is he there? Namaste, This is from a Sri Lankan publication on the Significance of Sivaratri and Lord Shiva and His Worship, mostly in Tamil, this part is in English and is an appendix to the section Lord Shiva and His Worship. "the second right hand is held in the gesture of 'fear not', while the second left, pointing to the lifted left foot, is held in a position symbolising 'elephant' (the elephant is the 'breaker of the way through the jungle of the world', i.e., the divine quide); the right foot is planted on the back of a dwarf, the demon 'Non-knowing', which signifies the passage of souls from God into matter, but the left is lifted, showing the release of the soul:the left is the foot to which the 'elephant-hand' is pointing and supplies the reason for the assurance, 'Fear not'." In a second source Merging With Siva in the section Siva's Cosmic Dance. "Siva dances upon the figure known as APASMARA, 'forgetful or heedless', who represents the soul bound by anava mala, the individuating veil of duality, source of seperation from God."
