Chris - Maa's words to me were "Ask the group to meditate with me with the song "Satyam Shivam Sundaram. SOOOO , my guess and suggestion would be to request the participants to meditate in any technique that they are already familiar with - just play Maa's song in the background and mentally tell Her that you are there per Her wishes. I asked Swamiji regarding the meditation technique in the Mandir - he suggests one technique - to concentrate on the parts of the Divine Mother . Here is what he had to say in His own words " The process known as Avayava yoga means concentrating on each of many parts until we can see the whole. That means we see her hands, her weapons, her arms, her torso, her neck, her face, until we see Her! " I am afraid that's all I know of this technique , but I am certainly gonna try and something like that for tomorrow's meditation. I hope everyone's questions were answered (to a certain degree). Please let me know if I can help further. Jai Maa Latha
Guest guest
Avayava yoga, thanks for sharing Swamiji's words on that. I have heard of it [not called avayaya specifically] and finally began to practice it off and on about 2-3 years ago. There is something going on here, with an in-tune feeling. I had meant to ask [maybe Parvati], "What does Maa mean, when she says 'meditation', or, what is her state when she is meditating?" And here we are now invited to meditate with her. steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > >, "Chris Kirner" > ><chriskirner1956> wrote: > > Latha, > > > > It is both an honor and a privilege to meditate with Shree Maa. > You > > can count me in...but what exactly does she want from us? Guest guest
Latha, If I may, in the absense of any detailed instructions from Maa or Swamiji, I offer the following suggestions for the special meditation. Rather than struggling to learn a new technique, I would suggest concentrating either on Maa, in whatever way is easiest, or Shiva (since the song is His), in whatever way is easiest. Remember that Shiva is often described as the subtlest light of meditation, so you can see him in light if another form is difficult. Conversely, you can begin by concentration on Maa to establish emotional/psychic connection, and join her in worship of Shiva in song. This is such a wonderful opportunity! Guest guest
no struggle. a beloved person invites you to go for a walk. it's not a method, it is ... what? one might open in their openness. some say, 'just be.' but be what? in maya one also "just is." the prinicple is over and over, we become what we behold. so multi-leveled in one level. hoho, "mutual inclusion" lathaji! ;-) if i behold gold in greed, do i become valuable? no, i just become more greedy! argh! a conclusion might be: it is not only what i behold but HOW i behold. how to behold? with love and awareness. devotion, respect. swamiji and maa have freely given all the good hints. pranams chris and all, see you later today, ... s , "Chris Kirner" <chriskirner1956> wrote: > Latha, > > If I may, in the absense of any detailed instructions from Maa or > Swamiji, I offer the following suggestions for the special meditation. > > Rather than struggling to learn a new technique, I would suggest > concentrating either on Maa, in whatever way is easiest, or Shiva > (since the song is His), in whatever way is easiest.
