Amazing it may seems, number nine plays a very important role in Hinduism.

Number 9 happened to be the "numerical representation of Goddess " in Hinduism.

Number 9 [sums, multiplication etc] plays a very important role in Hindu

scriptures.

During impeachment of President Clinton, I saw so many things concerning his

impeachment connected with number nine. It could have been a mere coincidence. I

agree .

In Hinduism, number nine comes repeatedly.

18 steps of Sabari Mala. [1+8 =9] 108 Upanishads [ 1+0+8 =9]

18 chapters of the epic Mahabhrata [ 1+8 =9]

18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita [ 1+8 =9]

108 beads on the Rudrasha Mala [1+0+8 =9]

KALI YUGA -----------432,000 years -------- 4+3+2 = 9 DVAPARA YUGA

----864,000 years---------8+6+4= 9 TRETA YUGA -------1,296,000

years--------1+2+9+6 = 9 KRITA YUGA --------1,728,000

years--------1+7+2+8

=9

KALPA --------432,000,000 years------------4+3+2 =9

During 2000 election, 9 Supreme Court judges decided who will be the next

president of United States of America.

So many things that happened 9-11 was associated with number 9.

Even during this election, I see a lot of things associated with number 9, like

the year John Edwards was born... May be all these are mere concidences...I

agree.

Dear friend,

Thank for your message on Number 9. I would like to share some more

things about this wonderful number.

This number nine stands for the maximum reach. If one moves beyond

that, he has to begin with number one.

For doing japa the multiples of 9, like 108, 1008 etc., are preferred.

Astrologically our lives are governed by navagrahas.

Mars (Angarakan or Chevvaai) is the ruler of this number. Those having

the number nine as their birth number would be stern, strong and

capable of enforcing discipline. If Mars is well placed in their

horoscopes, this effect would be remarkably obvious.

The numbers 1,2 and 3 are supposed to be friendly numbers for 9.

Just as the Panchakshara mantra is associated with Siva Peruman, the

Navakshari mantra associated with Ambal is very efficacious.

With kind regards,

Ever yours,

Kudanthai Sa Venkataraman

Most of the information about Hinduism that I learned came from

the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda.

I am very impressed by the good will and kindness shown by this group.

I too, feel that the number 9 has a great deal of significance,

and quite suiting to be a number of Goddesses. A lady gives birth

after carrying a baby for 9 months.Kumbakonam Sambasiva Venkataraman

hi bob

this group is quite varied, you will be happy to hear.

there are some people that are VERY knowledgeable about many

detailed aspects of Hinduism, either having lived in India, or,

having studied the culture, or visited.

i am an ignoramus, relatively. the spirit of the thing is what

counts for us. it is really terrific of course to hear from the many

people here who have both the spirit and knowledge of the many,

many, WAYS within this Way.

if we look at some sadhus who do not even speak, we know, the

deepest intent of Hinduism ... the part i am interested in ... goes

beyond language.

somebody asked a baba, "what is the best name of god?" he said, "the

one you know and want to say."

btw latha and actually, many people here, are REALLY GREAT about

sharing their knowledge, and can impart both the spirit and the

details.
