Guest guest
Here's what I learned from Swamiji's book, its a summary of one of the stories he tells. There was an ignorant man who was named Satyvrat. Which means he who tells the truth. He had failed to live up to his name and was cast out of his kingdom by his father, the king. Now Prince Satyvrat had quite a few adventures surviving in the wild by himself and because of circumstance he had been cursed with leprosy and his face had been greatly deformed. After this curse he realized that he had been failing himself and God and had not been who he should be so he commited himself to being good, honest, loyal, and trustworthy. It was during this time that he heard a pig being attacked by a wolf squeal, "AAAAYIIIIII!" And for some reason that word stuck in his mind and he began to hear it over and over in his head, "AI! AI! AI!" So he said it along with the pig, in his mind over and over and over. After some time the goddess Lakshmi came to him and said, "It's pronounced 'AIM' you idiot! But you've done well practicing it and have lead a well intentioned life for all this time so I will grant you a boon." Satyavrat asked to have his kingdom back, it was given to him and he became a noble leader of his people. Swamiji points out that Lakshmi didn't care at all that Satyvrat was slaughtering her mantra. She only cared that he said it, heard it, and though it. As soon as the goddess appeared to Satyavrat, she told him the proper pronounciation of her mantra. This simply means that if we have the right attitude during our sadhana that consciousness will come and teach us the right mantras. She'll teach us a whole lot more too. She'll show us who we are in the field of actors, and how we fit into Vishnu's great Pageant. Love, Brian "In the begining, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move." -- Douglas Adams, The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Radio Program. _____________ No banners. No pop-ups.
