Guest guest
Dear All, We are almost coming to a close on our discussion on purification and I realized that there was something that we had not discussed - what happens to us DURING purification. Some of you must be familiar with the term "Healing crisis" during fasting or detoxing the body. "The healing crisis is a process in which the body undergoes an intense period of cleansing and rebuilding. It is called a "healing" crisis because the body is healing itself and becoming stronger. It is referred to as a "crisis" because the symptoms can be dramatic and rather unpleasant during this time. Because the healing crisis is accompanied by unpleasant symptoms it is often mistaken as a sickness. In reality, it is just the opposite. It is a process in which the body is overcoming ill health and becoming healthier and stronger." I was wondering if there was something similar when we undergo mental purification. ie all our old demons come to visit us and we say goodbye to them. Anybody have any ideas , thoughts, spiritual references to this process ? If you do, I request you to share them with the group . Thank you ! Guest guest
Yes, there absolutely is. When you are sweeping up the dirt, dust does come up and fly around for a while, until all is cleaned out. Sometimes this can take a while. Things usually seem worse before they get better when undergoing serious purification. Guest guest
I think the Chandi describes it perfectly. Not a single demon of note goes without a fight. As long as we don't side with them it won't be traumatic. But then again, they exist because we identify with them... So there must be some traumatic feelings, huh? I think it helps to realize that they must go and accept the pain as part of that process. Once we accept the pain, our minds resigned to it, the identification is over and the demons can't even hold their own against consciousness. A great deal of running out of fear of pain surrounds us right now. All of that primordial fear signals one thing: consciousness is coming. When you see a person passionately lost doing this and that, recognize that they are just running from fear. Fear of consciousness. The irony is: consciousness is coming to those who are supposed to have it and no matter what our minds do, we are powerless to stop it. It will come when it is time. Period. If we fight then we suffer whiles its coming, if we surrender there is much less suffering. The prediction of YogaMaya to Kansa that said, "Devaki's eighth child will slay you," has happened inside all of us who are destined to be aware of awareness. We can choose to identify with our fears (Kansa) or we can choose to identify with the parents of consciousness (Devaki and Vasudeva). Its our choice. You may wonder, who is it who is identifying with Kansa? That -- you see -- is consciousness. Ultimately the child will be born within us and he will grow and using his supernatural strength he will slay all the demons of our mind. If we won't surrender he will come as Vishnu did, through deceit and deception. If we choose to accept our fate (oh horrible fate that I must be conscious *grin*) then consciousness can come as Lord Shiva, or as Maa, or as any of the other perfected awareness. Vishnu himself comes only when there are so many demons to slay that he must incarnate within us to reclaim his domain. The domain of our minds. This is my favorite subject. Thanks for bringing it up. I guess I was referring to ghosts and demons past that I thought were long dead and buried .... sometimes I see situations and dramas enacted that I thought had died/resolved in my teen years (for example) - this resembles a healing crisis in the physical phenomena where we come to face things from many years ago ... Thank you for your input. Jai Maa Latha

Guest guest
Hi Latha, I'm reminded of the guru of the ashuras. Who after all the ashuras were killed went to where their bodies lay and performed resurrection mantras on them. He revived them. Likewise, the part of us that is the guru of the demons can at anytime resurrect them for our benefit. It is all for us, it is all for her.
