Chris and everyone,

THANK You so much for your post - number 6065.

I had to rewrite this in my own words to absorb the richness of

meaning.

If I take own life and just my work in the office - sometimes I find

my interest in work just superficial and at other times

passionate. Ditto with my interest in my sadhana. I used to wonder

at what were the factors that caused the casual interest

to increase into one of passion (the other way is simple - just get

back to my lazy ol ways ) and Chris's post spelled this

out so clearly for me. The steps from a casual interest to an

ardent "I MUST complete this task".

Lately it seems to me - that God's Grace is essential , BUT it is

OUT THERE (or IN HERE) and it is UPTO us to get it. It is

not for giving , it is for the taking and therefore we HAVE to give

it ALL we got to take as MUCH as we can .

I am beginning to think that is true for anything in life - that we

can get anything that we want as long as we pay the price

for it in terms of time / effort and sincerity.

And the order is (to quote Chris's post)

1) the company of the sages

2) God's grace

3) dispassion

4) absorption in practice.

1) So in anything that we want to increase our interest in , we

associate with people in that field. Or as Chris quotes in

his post

"Coming into the company of a wise person is the most critical

juncture in a soul's evolution. Listening to and associating

with those further along the path. The aspirant's interest is

kindled and he or she begins to practice."

2 and 3) (Because of the satsanga and the right company) - the

aspirant attains the grace that helps him or her to cultivate

disinterest in sensory objects and awakens ardent desire for

enlightenment

4) I think that before we come to point 4 - ie burning desire - we

are faced with intermediate levels of desire , sudden

spurts of interest, a waxing and waning of sadhana - and we loop

through points 1 to 3, UNTIL we come to a point where we

decide "ENOUGH ALREADY - I AM GOING TO GET THIS NO MATTER WHAT"

To quote Chris's post again

"Burning desire,in turn, helps develop unflagging determination to

attain the goal. The aspirant begins listening to the

confident inner voice that asserts, "I am going to do it. The goal

can be attained and I will attain it.

Lets keep with the satsanga, lets us keep fueling our sadhana and

lets ride through the ups and down of interest and

disinclination until we REALLY REALLY GET IT !

JAI MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!

Love
