Guest guest
This week I'm learning about desire (again). I have been learning about desire ever since my Guru uttered the questioning words, "You desire desire?" Well that old desire was met. And now, like most people, I have more desire than I know what to do with, than I can actually conceive. Which is an interesting point, don't you think? My mind can't conceive of the amount of desire it has. Makes you think desire is more than just a mental activity... I have recently been taught (again) that no one is above desire. And for those of you who haven't heard this, this is what Shree Maa said about desire. Q: When will we have no desires left? A: The moment you die. Pause and reflect on that truth. It is very very powerful. You may be wondering, is Brian going to tie this into anything or is he just babbling off the top of his head like he usually does? Well, I can tie it in to the preparedness concept. You guys are preparing for the retreat. Goddess bless. In the same way you prepare yourself to do your sadhana, it is possible to prepare yourself to face Maha Maya with the same intent as the sadhana you perform. That is to say, and this ties back to my concept of life as a sadhana, thus another meaning for sadhu, you can prepare to handle all that Maya will throw at you during your day. How do we prepare for that? How do we make our daily life a spiritual practice? I have learned and stated many times that the first step toward consciousness is choosing to not react or when you can't stop the reaction, choosing to pray for non-reaction. This is a mental exercize that involves a great deal of introspection and self understanding. Its a process that involves making your mind up to be like the goddess, or like Krishna, or like Shiva, or like any of the other dieties. But certain things, namely deep seated fears and desires, especially fears and desires that exist within the genetic makeup of our bodies, cannot be mentally programmed around. We cannot program our mind to not react to energies in our bodies, that's not how reality works. There is only one way to stop the reactions in our minds (especially the ones to physical desires and fears) and that is to let goddess stop the reactions for us. She is called Kali in this form and her mantra is OM HRIM SHRIM KRIM PAMESHWARI KALIKAI SWAHA. I don't have Swamiji's definition of that mantra memorized, but let me express the feelings it causes within me. It is only through the destruction of desire before its actual incarnation that we may be free of reaction to it. Kali eats all the desires and fears (they are the same thing viewed from different mental perspectives) and she does so before they manifest their fruit, before they cause a reaction in us. Once we feel them it is too late for her to do anything and that's why the Chandi describes the three worlds filling with desire as desire's seeds multiply. None of his seeds, that is to say none of his copies can be destroyed and attempting to do so just causes more seeds to spill. Kali has to go to the original desire and absorb all of its blood before the blood hits the ground to vanqish it. Ultimately it perishes by bleeding to death. This is not just an analogy. This is a perfect representation of exactly what happens within us as we surrender to consciousness. Lately I have been praying to Kali by saying her mantra and these words are the observation of that recitation. Kali Maa Ki Jai! Brian _____________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding.
