Guest guest
>From Martin Luther King Jr., Source Unknown ============================================== "If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well." ==================================================== The quote from MLK Jr reminded me of a story about Maa from the book Shree Maa - Life of a Saint available at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm When She was a child, Maa had finished sweeping a room and thrown the broom aside casually. Her grandmother told Her that She had to respect the broom because it helped her to clean . Maa says She learned the valuable lesson of respecting the implements that we are given , and kept the broom aside with reverence.
Guest guest
If you ever have the opportunity to watch the monks in India who have the responsibility of sweeping the temples and courtyards, you see this in action. They sweep with total concentration and devotion. Once I was watching Gautam sweeping at the Devi Mandir. I ran up to him and told him that he looked just like a monk sweeping in India. He said "oh, I hope that I was not forgetting God." I laughed and said, "no, that's the point. You were in God."
