Guest guest
Question from Steve: For those of us who never went to India, or know only Western languages ... but, when we hear some chanting in some other language ... it seems to really move us. How can this be? Are we being a little fanciful, or, are the sounds resonating at some level past language ... or ... what? This seems like it can happen not only with Sanskrit chanting, but other chants, like Tibetan Buddhists, etc. And, it feels as if the level of their sadhana is conveyed via that chanting, too ... is this an accurate perception, or, a lively new-ager imagination at work? For those who understand the language, and those who do not understand the translated meaning ... is there a difference in the effect of hearing the Chandi recitation ... or if there is a difference, is it all beneficial in either case? Swamiji's response : It is all beneficial, but the more we understand, the deeper is the feeling.
