Guest guest
I don't know how many of you have heard this story, but Effie's post reminded me of it. There once was a very old and very rich man. He had heard the old saying, "You can't take it with you," but had decided he wanted to take at least some of his treasure with him to heaven. So he prayed and prayed and prayed and finally God said, "What do you want from me?" The old man said, "I know I'm close to death and I would like to bring my riches with me." "That's impossible," replied God, "you must leave all worldly attachment on earth. The old man pleaded with God, "Please God let me bring it with me." Finally, because of his love for his son, God said, "Okay, you may bring two suit cases filled with whatever you want. The man was overjoyed and prepared his two suitcases. Not long after the old man died and walked up to the gates of heaven where St. Peter and St. Jobe were talking to each other. As the old man approached, St. Peter pulled out his notebook and said, "Ah yes Mr. Maser, welcome to the gates of heaven." Then noticing that the old man had two suitcases with him, St. Peter inquired, "What's with the suit cases?" The old man, becoming defensive, said, "God said I could bring these." "Okay," replied St. Peter, "what's in them?" The old man replied happilly, "they are filled with gold!" St. Peter opened the gate and the old man walked through. As the gate closed St. Jobe looked at St. Peter and said, "What do you think he's going to do with that bit of pavement?" St. Peter replied, "I have no idea." *** Brian "In the begining, the universe was created.
