Namaste Linda and all, The pranayam is not mentioned in the text . The Navarna mantra is "Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundayai Vicce" Here is how we do the pranayam for the Chandi Inhale for the length of the mantra ( use the mantra given to you by your Guru or if you dont have one use the Navarna mantra) When you exhale, chant the verses from the Chandi. Choose a number of verses that you can be consistent with for the duration of recitation. It is not uncommon for beginners in this practice to chant one half or one quarter of a verse. For example, take the verse Sarvamangala maangalye Shive Sarvartha Saadhike Sharanye Tryambake Gauri Narayani Namostute || Take a deep breath for the duration of your mantra (ie Guru mantra or Navarna) When you exhale, you can chant "Sarvamangala maangalye " or if you can "Sarvamangala maangalye Shive Sarvartha Saadhike" Inhale once again and chant the next quarter(or half) the verse. So if you could do only "Sarvamangala maangalye" then it would take you four rounds of inhaling and exhaling to complete the verse. As one becomes more comfortable with the Chandi, you will start doing the entire verse, or two, three, four verses to the breath. The key is to keep this pace consistent during the recitation . Hope that helps. Jai Maa Latha
Guest guest
Dears, My guru mantra is a mantra of Ganapathi. Is it possible to also use this Ganapathi mantra in the inhalation of pranayama of the Chandi? Best wishes. - "Latha Nanda" <lathananda <> Tuesday, August 31, 2004 12:19 AM Chandi Pranayam.... for Linda > > I don't understand the inhalations. Guest guest
Should the inhalation time and exhalation time be equal? If so, what is the recommended way to monitor/gauge this? A stopwatch or timer? Surya - Latha Nanda Monday, August 30, 2004 8:19 AM Chandi Pranayam.... for Linda > I don't understand the inhalations.
