Guest guest
Swamiji stresses on the attitude of gratitude. To be grateful for every situation , every person that comes in our life, every problem that we are facing .... it then strikes me ... the very fact that I am alive is enough reason for gratitude. Wanted to share a few poems that I found on the web. ========================================= barn's burnt down; now I can see the moon ~ Masahide ~ ================================================== and then this beautiful poem by Rumi called "The Guest House " This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. Guest guest
this is a very inspirational thought. like his sense of it being a privilege to serve, it takes you outside of ego. we can feel we are glad to be alive, or even, happy we have food, a place to live, a family ... or, that we can see a tree, or be aware, and live as a human being ... know a guru, hear of some positive teaching, even experience suffering, and overcome suffering. simply the sense of awareness, and the ability to contemplate that is a great privilege. even to be burdened is a privilege. s , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Swamiji stresses on the attitude of gratitude. > > To be grateful for every situation , every person that comes in our > life, every problem that we are facing .... > > it then strikes me ... the very fact that I am alive is enough > reason for gratitude. > > Wanted to share a few poems that I found on the web. > > ========================================= > > barn's burnt down; > now I can see > the moon > > ~ Masahide ~ > > ================================================== > > and then this beautiful poem by Rumi called "The Guest House " > > > This being human is a guest house. > Every morning a new arrival. > > A joy, a depression, a meanness, > some momentary awareness comes > as an unexpected visitor. > > Welcome and entertain them all! > > Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, > who violently sweep your house > empty of its furniture, > still, treat each guest honorably. > > He may be clearing you out > for some new delight. > > The dark thought, the shame, the malice, > meet them at the door laughing, > and invite them in. > > Be grateful for whoever comes, > because each has been sent > as a guide from beyond.
