At the Devi Mandir we prayed to Indra to start the rain (He did) and to Surya to stop the rain.

Quick Quiz

Dear List,

I love the Quick Quizzes in Linda Johnsen's book The Complete

Idiot's Guide to Hinduism. A sample:

Hindus believe you can generate rain by...

a. Washing your car.

b. Seeding clouds with ice crystals.

c. Propitiating the deities who control the weather.

For the answer read the story about Shree Maa and Parvati on page

327.

Heartfelt thanks to all, especially Shree Maa,

Dear List,

In the Indian newspapers I have read many times that in the temples

Indian propitiate to the deities making puja and yagna when there are

droughts. ( To Ganesha, Varuna, etc...). Varuna is the deity of element

water.

But one friend in Dominican Republic told me that in his country there

was a Vedic group that generated raining reciting daily some verses from Rig

Veda in agnihotra and homa. They said that it rained in five days.

I added the file with the verses Sanskrit with Roman translitereted and

translated to English and Spanish. It are Rig Veda, Book V, 83; book VII,

101, 102, 103. It is said that the rishi recited the first three verses and

after raining he composed the fourth verse for the frogs.

I DON'T HAVE TESTED IT. Because I live in Japan and in this country it

rains many days. Please, if somebody tested it with good results informs me.

I am not esceptical, but I don't know if it is truth or lie.

Forgive me all for my not well English one. (Dear Latha has a lot of work

by reason of my messages).

A greeting to all.

in all things there is some sort of magic.

when people individually or as a group have a strong wish, the world

can respond.

it is not like flicking on a light switch.

also, we do not know what was possible when we did not live in this

world of objects and ego.

it is said, siddhis [powers] can come and go. when the objective is

god, they are signs of one's focus, but are not given exceptional

notice, but filed under: 'all of manifestation.'

the entire mentality has to change dor this kind of thing to work.

sadhana is like that. it takes a life time. and then, we are fit to

see god. that is a miracle in itself, and even then, maybe, still no

rain. but you no longer care in the same way.

You would have to ask Swamiji directly. He led the homa. It was like a miracle.
