Guest guest
Namaste All, This week we are focussing on Devi Atharvasirsham of the Chandi. This is also known as the "Highest meaning of the Goddess". Swamiji mentions in his new book "Pronunciation and Chandi Samputs" how people sometimes can a sankalpa to chant this chapter 108 times. I dont know if we can complete 108 during the week (grin) , but it would be great if we can chant this chapter and read the English translation once a day. We have everything to gain by keeping at our studies - thank you Jayadeva for your inspiration and understanding of the Tantric Ratri Suktam of the last week. I bow to you. Here is hoping that we all strive to learn the Highest meaning of the Goddess this week and get a greater understanding with her blessings. Guest guest
hmm doing 15-16 a day would get a person 108 in a week. i wonder if that is possible for a householder. it is a short chapter. or, what if the group had a sankalpa to total 108 altogether. if we do more, then we do more. steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Namaste All, > > This week we are focussing on Devi Atharvasirsham of the Chandi. > This is also known as the "Highest meaning of the Goddess". > > Swamiji mentions in his new book "Pronunciation and Chandi Samputs" > how people sometimes can a sankalpa to chant this chapter 108 times. > > I dont know if we can complete 108 during the week (grin) , but it > would be great if we can chant this chapter and read the English > translation once a day. > > We have everything to gain by keeping at our studies - thank you > Jayadeva for your inspiration and understanding of the Tantric Ratri > Suktam of the last week. Guest guest
Namaste ALL, (I like that greeting!) Ummmm, this activity refers to real, honest- to-goodness Sanskrit chanting, right? I mean, it can't be accomplished by reading in English or listening to Swamiji chant it, right? Does totally mangled Sanskrit pre-primer struggling Sanskrit reading count as chanting? I would like to give it a try but don't want to corrupt the calculations by incorrect participation. Please advise. Guest guest
Namaste ALL esp Karen, YES - ANY effort that you make to chant it - mistakes and all, COUNTS !!! The EFFORT is what counts - give it all you got ! For those that are unable to chant - the baby steppers - if you are able to meditate to this passage AND read the English to understand the meaning - please do let me know - we will add you to the count as well. As someone mentioned (was it you Gina ?) , where the Goddess lives it doesna matter. Our attempt is to do atleast 108 full chantings as a group , but if in the process, people meditate,or chant or understand the meaning .... well THATS WHAT WE WANT - THATS OUR ULTIMATE GOAL ! The numbers are then but an interesting statistic. I want to thank Jayadeva - whose understanding of the Devi Ratri Suktam last week , and Steve whose suggestion to adopt 108 as a group, inspired our attempts of doing the Devi Atharvasirsham 108 times this week. Lots of love Latha , "Michael and Karen" <michael_koontz@e...> wrote: > Namaste ALL, > > (I like that greeting!) Ummmm, this activity refers to real, honest- > to-goodness Sanskrit chanting, right? Guest guest
as they say, mother accepts any gift with love. here is how i do it: i recite the sanskrit transliteration out loud or quietly, fast or slow, depending. and i listen to swamiji recite it once a day. i read the english informally but it is not part of the recitation. that's all ... as far as i know, that is ok. s , "Michael and Karen" <michael_koontz@e...> wrote: > Namaste ALL, > > (I like that greeting!)
