Guest guest
Dear Group, I was reading Kalachandra's post to Latha where she mentioned The Guru and the Goddess. What a great quote! So I pulled my copy of the book off the shelf and started reading. Although Michael and I have at least one copy of all the Devi Mandir books (which shows what great collectors we are!), it doesn't mean we have at all tapped into the vast resources of knowledge. Well, in perusing the book, I found a lot of mentioning of satsang and its various meanings. I also recall lots of members of this group referring to the group as satsang. To me, it rather seems like a lot of chit chat, spiritual chit chat, for sure, but a lot of chatter sometimes (no offense intended by that). I enjoy chatter. If would be great, if group members could shed some light for me on how what we are doing is satsang. Namaste, Karen
Guest guest
karen, good qstn. what is satsang? with the sangha. what can it be? it is about right association. the other devotees activities help one turn one's own mind towards god. s , "Michael and Karen" <michael_koontz@e...> wrote: > Dear Group, > > I was reading Kalachandra's post to Latha where she mentioned The > Guru and the Goddess. Guest guest
Dear Karen, I feel that we first started to understand that we were sharing in satsang through our Sunday/Saturday online classes. If you go back through the archives of the classes, I think you will see that we share a lot more than chit chat. We share spiritual energy and devotion. We are growing together in Truth with the blessings of Shree Maa and Swamijii and the teachings of their senior disciples. It is quite amazing what we share together. Guest guest
Hi Michael, I think satsanga is at least as much a matter of the heart as it is of learning. I am definately not one for chit chat, but a certain amount is inevitable, necessary even, a blessing even, because it reinforces on a personal level the care we have for one another, and the underlying reason we are all here. As with all things, it is a question of balance, I think, and a balance is difficult to attain, always swaying to one side or another. Our purpose here is a spiritual one. Going even further, it is a focus on personal practice of spiritual discipline and love of God with the intent of eventually transcending our human limitations. As long as that is true, the chit chat can be no more than perhipheral. It will never be the core of what we are here (at least so long as Latha is here to remind us).
