Guest guest
Namaste All, During on-line class last Saturday, we discussed meditating on the Divine Weaponry held in by the 18-armed Goddess in the Dhyanam at Chapter 2 of the Chandi. These weapons are also listed at vs 11-12 of the atha vaikrtikam rahasyam and vs 10 tells us that “though She has a thousand arms, yet She should be worshipped with 18.” Energy was the weaponry proposed for meditating upon this week. Though the weapons are all different manifestations of energy, Energy in this sense seems to represent the totality of all energies. Since last week we here in Barbados (166 sq mile caribbean island) were being cautioned that Hurricane Ivan might affect the island. On Sunday evening, the atmosphere was silent but eerie, the feeling came to worship Mother Energy in the form of hurricane. This was done during meditation and satsanga, on Monday and Tuesday, puja and sankalpa was added and all offerings made to Her in this form. There was a sense of fear thinking on Mother as the howling winds and terribly uncomfortable heat that was present. On Monday, the island was “shut down” at 2.00p.m. to allow inhabitants time to prepare for this hurricane, the heat was unbearable and outside was still. The drive home the 2-hour traffic was spent chanting the 32-names of Durga and saying prayers to Mother over and over and continued at home. The “real” effects of this system was to really affect the island from midnight, but then, if by miracle the system shifted and weakened we were spared a direct hit. There was 1 death but over 200 homes damaged by the high winds and some property damaged by sea swells and loss of utility services. After passing this island, the system regained strength, one of the neighbouring islands - Grenada got a direct and devastating hit. Some 9 deaths so far, 90% house roofs gone and half of the businesses destroyed. No water, minimal shelter, no electricity, no telephone, just tears and wailing. The system is now in the Caribbean Sea packing 160 mph winds. I believe the thought worship this form was a result of the visual of the system as it appeared on the website where along with the mass of white cloud, they were 3 large balls of red and yellow energy (fire like) which had the look of a head and 2 arms it was also surrounded by a vast majority of smaller bits of “fire and cloud” the larger form was as Mother and the smaller ones Her entourage/arms. At some point during its passage, the energy collected into one fire ball. To me this was Chapter 10 of the Chandi in manifestation, when Goddess energy dissolved into One (vs 3 -6) and subsequently slayed Self-Conceit. (Sunday)The above para was the energy / the object of meditation. After which I sang along with “Oh Dark night Mother and also Namastasye, Namastasye. This worship has continued into the week with : Puja (5) offerings / Chandi worship especially 32 Names of Durga and including this week’s group sankalpa, satsang – Everything is Your Desire / Whom Else shall I cry to. As surrender to Mother’s Will – Lord the Day it has Gone, Evening has Come and Dark Night Mother. “Oh Calamity of the universe, be gracious to us”. Jai Chandi Maa! Note: Dear Group members, please remember all (animate and inanimate) who have be affected as a result of the elements. May Mother’s Will be done.Kali Shop for Back-to-School deals on Shopping. Guest guest
Kali Ma, I was very aware of storm's path and strength. I was praying for you and your loved ones continually and urged the group satsang to do so also. I knew the danger was great. I am sure that your wonderful tapasya on Mother Chandi helped to save you and lessen the destruction of your island. I also was joining in much of your same sankalpa. I was singing with Maa on The Dark Night Mother CD. We were One, dear sister. Guest guest
Thank God you came through ok, Kali. In fact, setting aside for a moment the worry and the damage to property, it sounds as if, for you, it was a blessed experience.
