Guest guest
Namaste ALL, "Do not underestimate the spirit of evil, here. Its aim is to undermine charity and cool the love the friends have for one another. This would cause serious harm. Let's understand, my friends, that true perfection means loving God and loving our neighbor. The more perfectly we keep those two commandments, the closer to perfection we will come. All spiritual rules are nothing but means toward the end of spiritual love." --St. Teresa. I wonder if Teresa's concept of evil is the same as the concept of the asuras in the Chandi. Guest guest
Evil is what separates us from God, each other, life and its processes. We are all individuals, but it is best to utilize that individuality in the service of those around us. In the performance of seva we find our place within the pattern of things. Our placement with others then becomes our sangha. Through sanha the jiva can subjugate itself to the atma which is a componet of all life forms. That is really getting into the spirit of things. To help and not harm is a way to free ourselves from evil. That is my take on things. I don't know much about St. Teressa. , "Karen Borak" <karenborak@e...> wrote: > Namaste ALL, > > "Do not underestimate the spirit of evil, here. Guest guest
Namaste ALL esp Kanda, Comparing the writings of the saints of all religions has great benefit. Comparing Christian saints with Indian saints, helps me understand Hinduism that much more. Understanding Hinduism is an important goal for me. Guest guest
Namaste ALL esp Rudran, The Chandi helps me understand the "evil" so often expressed in my Christian background. The truth is everywhere. However, I think, perhaps, in my limited knowledge, that the Chandi (and I suppose other Vedic texts) provide unique tools for attacking evils/asuras. Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA Karen i have one more quote from Swami Sivananda along your lines of thinking. He said, "The fundamentals or essentials of all religions are the same. They are as old as the human race. There never has been, there never shall be, any real invention or discovery in the sphere of religion. There never was a religious founder who had invented a new religion or revealed a new truth. These founders are all transmitters only, but not original makers." so it's like others have said in earlier postings, worship in the way most natural to you and you'll still reach the TRUTH. Guest guest
Yes I would heartily agree. Given time the Chandi renders deeep and seemingly unique perspectives of the creatures around us. It departs us from the realms of asuras in which we have lived most of our lives. As humans we have all been asuras, but as Chandi sadaks we enter into the sacred dimension of the devas/devies. All those evils have been a part of us, but hereon as our recitations transport us to a better condition. , "Karen Borak" <karenborak@e...> wrote: > Namaste ALL esp Rudran, > > The Chandi helps me understand the "evil" so often expressed in my Christian background.
