Since we have all focussed on Devyatharvasirsham last week, how about Ganeshyatharvasirsham (the Highest Meaning of Ganesh) this week? This is a very catchy piece of chanting and Maa had one day recommended us to memorise this passage. Ganesh removes obstacles - and goodness knows life can seem like an obstacle race and we need all the help we can get. It would be great if we could all focus on him this week leading to the Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations on Friday and Saturday. Here are three sankalpas possible this week - and everyone is free to do one or all three depending on the time , availability of book and other constraints. 1) Severals malas (rosary counts) of Ganesh's mantra - Om Gam Ganapataye Namah . How about we aim for a group total of 10008 (10K) by end of Saturday ? BTW, one rosary count is 108 - so we are talking 100 malas in all . (This is definitely possible as we manage to do 100 malas or MORE of Om Namah Shivaya in one night on Shivaratri ) This is the easiest option for folks that dont have the Ganesh puja books with them. The mantra can be chanted at any time , during a commute or waiting in line. 2) For those that have books - we could chant the Highest Meaning of Ganesh 108 times - again a group total by end of Saturday. 3) For those that have books - we could do the Ganesh Puja on Friday and Saturday. I am thrilled to look forward to focussing on the playful, friendly ,easily pleased, child-like Ganesh this week and meeting our sankalpa goals. Everyone that writes in with the counts of rosaries, number of Ganesh Atharvasirsham , can I request a big favor ? Please mention on the Subject line of your email to me - the date done , mantra - count , GAtharvasirsham - count. It will make my job a lot easier to keep track of the counts. Thank you for your willingness to participate to please Ganesh. Thank you Parvati for reminding us of the Ganesh celebrations and Linda for being interested in doing another group sankalpa. Guest guest
Dear Latha, What a wonderful co-incidence. Friday the 17th is my Son Anav's fourth Birthday. What better way to celebrate then to remember Lord Ganesha. The one time I had met Shree maa and Swamiji in Washington D.C he was just crawling. And he wanted maa's daphlee(little drum) so bad so she gave it to him. The next day when maa came in for darshan she put her flower garland around his little neck. What blessings, of coure I was so busy buying food that I missed this part altogether. I will try to do as much as I can and as much as He wants me to do. I have noticed this that in my case even puja happens when she wants to otherwise obstacles, nagativies, ego what not. All the more reason to remember our Lord Gansha.
