Dear ecjensen,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these matters of light and

dark. Maa is everything ~ the dark and the light, but I feel as you

do that if one shines the light on the asuras, they will dissipate or

become your allies instead. I have mentioned before, as an aside, that

I came from an abusive home.

I spent about 10 years of my young adulthood working to deal with the

rage inside of me and the way it was manifesting (in the form of

horrible images I didn't seem to have any control over, of impulses I

had no want to have or carry out, etc.) At some point (here comes my

Christian background), I thought of the dragon. In Christianity, the

dragon is evil, a being to be overcome, slain, etc.

I decided I would make the dragon the metaphor for my problem, and I

would make friends with the dragon. It didn't happen overnight, but

it was an amazing process to go through. Afterwords, I led a workshop

on "Honor the Dragon," which was about transforming our negativities

into positivities through the help of the Dragon. I wrote a song

about it, and I have several Beanie Baby Dragons to remind me. I also

wrote a children's story ... it had to do with making friends with the

dragon and then having adventures ... flying on the dragons back,

toasting marshmallows over the dragon's fire. What had harmed me for

so many years had become my best friend. Jai Maa ~ Linda

Oh Linda. Wonderful. You just reminded me!

Asuras are like curses, they have a positive component.

Just like all god's are like blessings, they have a negative component.

And now I understand EC even more. Thank you thank you thank you.

Once consciousness dispells the negativity of an Asura, its positive qualities

shine through us.

For example, I had an asura I'll call, "Low Self Esteem" Maa took him out a few

years ago and now I express a God named, "Confidence."

They are just oposite qualities and it is striking a balance (as EC said) which

allows us to express positivity when we choose to do so.

The negative qualities that the goddess cuts down form the basis for the

positive qualities we express in our lives, the examples that we set as

conscious beings.

I call that "the shape of surrender."

Thank you so much for helping me connect with EC's words. You helped so very

much.

Love,

Brian
