The Bell of Continuous Tone - what does that mean ?Is a continuous tone more beneficial/pleasant than a non-continuous tone ? Dear Latha, I think this may ultimately be a question for Swami, but as a musician, let me venture my perspective. Everything that exists is a vibration. Music/tone is a vibration, so the vibration or Bell of Continuous Tone is upholding all of physical creation. This is just my own humble opinion. Guest guest
i have not yet chimed in on this subject [groooaaannnnn!] ok. the bell of continuous tone. ALL is continuous tone: OM; the universe itself. BUT since we are identified with mind, we are fragmented [or deluded into believing this] so the "sounds" we make and perceive are discontinuous; they appear to start and end, and start again; this gives us all sorts of anxieties about permanence, etc. the bell of coninuous tone replaces that fragmentation, we proceed to unify deeper and deeper in that sound of OM. the bell of continuous tone collects mind and leads it into the One. s , nierika@a... wrote: > > Latha wrote: > > OK ... Guest guest
In the past due to the close proximity of the houses, I am usually reluctant to ring the bell. Early Saturday morning during a point puja, my hand just reached over and rang the bell continuously, my hand did not appear to want to stop the motion. I am not sure when but my thoughts became very clear and it sounded as though the bell was saying “aim hrim klim” over and over again - the ears became clear and there was a soft silence, all thoughts seemed to vanish and I felt so at peace and loved. How beautiful if this feeling (the tone) was continuous. Swamiji has said in one of his explanations (please correct me if I am wrong as I do not have the Chandi with me today) that the asuras cannot take the sound of the bell, the run saying STOP, STOP!! Please pardon my not seeing/responding to the posts sooner but access to the internet is at times difficult. Pranams. Guest guest
Dear Kalia, This was a very beautiful experience to hear the bell saying "aim hrim klim" over and over again. Goddess Bless You.
