JAI means "Victory to".

So in this case it means Victory to the Divine Mother.

This phrase has been popularized as a greeting - so instead

of "Hello", we could say "Namaste", "Hari Om" or "Namah Shivaya" and

of course "JAI MAA"

In some places in India, they greet each other with "Jai Ramji ki" -

Victory to Lord Ram.

IMHO, this is a beautiful way to greet anyone - to first remember

the Divine and then to relate with the person.

Thanks for bringing up this question.
