In Western Metaphysics, I believe this may be what is referred to the "Singing of the Spheres." When I was in college, a long, long, long time ago, I was walking across the campus at night. I was in a state of total receptivity and openness, though I'm not sure why. Suddenly I "heard" this "sound." It is impossible to describe ... a deep thrumming hum, thousands of wind chimes suddenly ringing, a chorus of angels ... there is no way to describe what I "heard," but at the time I felt it was the singing of the spheres. Now I am thinking perhaps it was also the bell. It is as several have said, the humming engine of creation. We just get distracted by all the other mundand sounds and so forget to listen.
