OM GUM GANAPATEYE NAMAH

Panegyric poetry for Lorg Ganesh to End All Affliations.

Shree Naarad Uvacha:

Pranamya shirsaa Devam Gauriputram Vinayakam Bhaktaa vaasam

smarennittyamaayuh kaamaarthasiddhiye (1)

Naarad ji said :( the devotee should ) First bow to the great god

shree Ganesh, the son of goddess parvati and then (he/she) must ever

chant names of that lord dwelling in his devotees heart for good

health, age and material benefits.

Prathamam Vakratundam cha Ekadantam dviteeyakam triteeyam

Krishnaapingaakscha gajevaktram chaturtham.(2)

First is Vakratunda ( askew trunked) second Ekadant ( one tusked)

third krishnaapingaaksha (with black and yellowish eyes), fourth

gajavakra ( with a face like that of an elefant).

Lambodaram pancham cha shashtham vikatmeva cha saptamam vignaraajam

cha dhoomravarnam tathashthamam.(3)

Fifth is Lambodar ( huge -bellied), sixth vikat (massive), seventh

vighnaraajendra( king of all factors causing obstacles ), eight

dhoomra-varna (smoked hued)

Navam Bhaalchandram cha dashamam tu vinaayakam Ekaadasham ganapatim dwadasham tu gajaananam.(4)

Ninth Bhaalchandra ( with the moon reposing on the forehead), tenth

Vinaayak, eleventh Ganapati and twelfth is gajaananam.

Dwadasheitani naamaami trisandyam yah pathennarah na cha vighnabhayam

tasya sarvasiddhikaram prabo (5)

he who chants these twelve names at every change of face of a day (

i:e Morning , afternoon and evening) , o lord by your grace he fears

no troble, for this chant is the bestower of all the desired abiliies

..

Vidyaarthi labhate vidyam dhanarthi labhate dhanam putraarthee labhate

putraam mokshadi labhate gatim.(6)

By this chant a student gets all the knowledge, a seeker of wealth all

riches, an issuless person a son and the one desireing Moksha gets the

Final emancipation of his soul.

Japedganapatistrotram shadbhirmaaseih phalam labhet samvatsarena

siddim cha labhate natra sanshayah. (7)

if one chants this ganpati stotra for six month , one starts getting

the desired result and in one year he becomes totally adept in

whatever he desires-there is no doubt about it.

Ashtabhyo Braahmanebyashcha likhitva ya samarpayet tasya vidya bhavetsarya

prasaadatah(8)

He who writes these names and gives to eight learned persons or

Brahmans, by the grace of lord Ganesh, he gets all kinds of

knowledge.

this comletes the sankatnaasham Ganesh Stotra culled from shree Narad Puraana.

Dear family i am not sure about the translation i have just copied as

it appears in the book , please forgive mefor any mistake and please

do rectify anything which is not correct .

I was once given a delightful piece called Narada's Song. It suggested

worshipping Ganesha, and listed twelve names of Ganesha for worship. I

cannot give the Sanskrit.Maybe someone in the Group can...worship

Ganeshafirst - as the One with the Twisted Trunk: ever noticed how

the way takes lots of turns - not just straight ahead. jai

Ganeshasecond - as the One with the Single Tusk: Lord Ganesha

sacrificed to bring us the Teachings - He cares so for us. jai

Ganeshathird - as the One with the Faun-colored Eyes: o, looking into

Ganesha's eyes - so beautiful, gentle and attractive. jai Ganeshaforth

- as the One with the Elephant's Mouth: I once had an experience with

an elephant where the elephant grabbed a whole bag of peanuts out of

my hand, threw it into his mouth and shortly therafter spit out just

the bad - real

discrimination. jai Ganeshafifth - as the Pot-bellied One: lots of

prana; lots of joy; makes us laugh. jai Ganeshasixth - as the

Monstrous One: even that which is scarry and beyond our comfort zone

is only Him. jai Ganeshaseventh - as the King of Obstacles: He both

puts the obstacles in our path and removes them; He's the king; how

often have obstacles been there to keep you from going the wrong way

or held you up to get things lined up right or brought out your gifts

through their challenges? ! jai Ganeshaeighth - as the Smoke-colored

One: you'l find that smoke color all over and Ganesh, too, is

everywhere. jai Ganeshaninth - as the Remover of Hindrances: if it is

holding us up from moving into Self-awareness, Ganesha takes care of

that for us. jai Ganeshatenth - as Moon-crested One: drinking in our

devotion! (someone once told me that those round sweets Ganesha loves

to munch on are the fullfilled desires of His

devotees) jai Ganeshaeleventh - as the Lord of the Hordes: we all love

Ganesha. jai Ganeshatwelfth - as the One with the Elephant's Face: no

mistaking our beloved Ganesha! jai Ganeshajayadeva
