Guest guest
This is what Sri Ramakrishna used to say. Once the Holy Bible was read out to him. From the very beginning there were references to the doctrine of sin in it. After hearing a little and finding that it talked of nothing but sin, he refused to listen anymore. He used to say: "Just as in the case of snakebite, if the patient can be made to believe that there is no poison at all, he will be all right. Similarly, if one constantly thinks, 'I have taken the name of the Lord, so I am sinless,' one becomes pure." The more we give up such ideas as "I am sinful,I am weak," the better for us. The Almighty God dwells in human beings. We are part of God. We are his children. How can we be weak? Our strength comes from him. We can never be weak. So the greatest sin is to think oneself weak and sinful. ---Swami Saradananda, Ramakrishna As We Knew Him
Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA its ironic that you quote Sri Ramakrishna because i have been rereading from his beloved consort a book named Sri Sarada Vijnanagita. some quotes that i would like to humbly offer; "Some having seen me involved in activities of the world, have said that I am entangled in Maya. But what to do, for I myself am Mahamaya. "Many books about the Master have also been published. Read Them. Do not indulge in dry reasoning, though, but rather acquire intense devotion." "My children, work to remove the sufferings of the world. The purpose of one's life is fulfilled only when one is able to bring joy to another." "What does a man become by realizing God. Does he get horns? No. What happens is, he develops discrimination between the real and the unreal, get illumination and goes beyond life and death." "As the timepiece on the wall goes on ticking. So too must you continue to repeat God's Name. Thus you will attain everything. Nothing else need be done." JAI MA , "Karen Borak" <karenborak@e...> wrote: > This is what Sri Ramakrishna used to say. Guest guest
Namaste ALL esp EC, Remember the parable of the hundredth monkey theory? Your finding irony is the simultaneous reading of and about Sri Ramakrishna seem to be like that. Your humble quotes are wonderful...the one about reading but not indulging is especially relevant. Love to read but love to love is the goal, right?
