Dear Latha, Since I am in pain most of the time and struggle to have some kind of life, and as I remember what Swami told me ("What a privilege to be part of You're wondrous creation."), and as I remember Steve's suggestion to think of my pain as tapas, I will try to answer. Pain is helping me sort out what is really important from what is not. Pain is helping me learn to say no when I want to say yes because I have always been a very involved, type A person. Pain is helping me learn patience, with myself, and with others close to me who are troubled by my pain and don't know what to do. (My hubby still sometimes wants to "fix" me and gets frustrated that he can't, so Pain is teaching him also.) Pain focuses my attention Godward, as it has all through my life. Pain (and my hubby) are helping me learn to focus on what is positive in my life rather than what is negative (the Pain). Pain is a great teacher, and I am sure I still have lessons to learn.
