So kind of you! Dear Karen, Your post reminded me of a wonderful temple that my sister used to take me to. It was when I lived in Maryland. The structure was complete and magnificent, but the outside was not yet finished (decorated by painting the statues and such). Walking inside that temple was like walking through a doorway to another world. The first thing you see is Shiva reclining, asleep on the great snake, with the snakes umbrella (I know this isn't the right name, but I can't think of it) covering over his head. Then you look around and you notice the whole temple is a series of altars or puja areas, with many of the Hindu pantheon represented ~ Krishna, Ganesha, Hanuman, Durga, Laksmi, Saraswati ... I can't remember them all, but to walk around to each area was like taking a blessed pilgrimage. Almost always there would be puja going on in one of the area and the pujari did not mind if you came in the middle. He always welcomed, and it was wonderful watching him bathe the diety with milk, yoghurt, ghee, honey, and finally water, and offering fruits and flowers. At the end, he would give anone who was witnessing the puja prasad from the left over fruits. Now I am in a place with no temple, no satsang, and nobody really with whom to share my journey into this rich and wonderful spiritual tradition. In a way, I think that this group and its site is a virtual temple, and for this I am very greatful. Jai Maa ~ Linda
