Guest guest
Swamiji I read somewhere of a saint who was very old, and he and a sadhu combined some herbs and took a 1 year healing. The saint was then replenished and lived to 185. Another Baba tells of pranayama, and is said to live to 135 or so. The older devotees, is this sort of thing of use, or should we put our minds on doing what God wills alone? Or, does this fall under directing one's life and sadhana? steve

My thanks to Anthony De Mello. Jai Maa Latha ============================================ According to legend, God sent an Angel to the Master with this message: "Ask for a million years of life and they will be given you. Or a million million. How long do you wish to live?" "Eighty years," said the Master without the slightest hesitation. The disciples were dismayed. "But, Master, if you lived for a million years, think how many generations would profit by your wisdom." "If I lived for a million years, people would be more intent on lengthening their lives than on cultivating wisdom." ======================================
Guest guest
Besides who really dies anyway? Through Kaya Pradesh, amongst other things, the Babas keep serving mankind for untold generations. - Latha Nanda Thursday, September 30, 2004 8:47 PM Re: Qstn for Swamiji -- longevity > Swamiji> > I read somewhere of a saint who was very old, and he and a sadhu > combined some herbs and took a 1 year healing. Guest guest
what is kaya pradesh? it's a funny thing. we work hard and eat and go to bed on time ... why? there is one. one moves faster to get to work on time. one slows down in traffic. all this adjustment in time. we are creatures in time, in a span of time. some objects within that range are subject to being hastened or extended, at that moment of experience anyway. a relationship can be sustained or end. hrim. a sattvic quality, to sustain. realiation of any goal requires various conditions to be sustained. for example, life in a body, that is an opportunity. one of the descriptions of this yuga is, men live short lives. there is a suggestion the egoic life is fast and short. if that is fanciful or true, who knows. from the total viewport of course it is all nonesense; from the perspective of the self, it is at the very least caring for the temple. another way of saying it: one is a candle, or a fragile feather. yes it is impermanent. but given the choice, by nature that thing is preserved, sustained, cared for. this can be either an expression of fear, or it can be an expression of love. it's all a matter of perspective, what one thinks and feels. , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni@c...> wrote: > Besides who really dies anyway?
