Guest guest
Dear All, So this question on humility has been dancing inside my head ... Shree Maa says that Humility is an ornament . My question is .. look at the times that we have been humble and recognized as such ... doesnt it lead to pride ? So when is one truly humble ? When is one truly humble even when one is recognized as humble ? Any thoughts , suggestions, experiences ...I would love to hear from you. Guest guest
suggestion: just be humble and don't worry if you are thinking "i am humble" ... that will wear off. jai maaaaaaaaa , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Dear All, > > So this question on humility has been dancing inside my head ... > > Shree Maa says that Humility is an ornament . > > My question is .. look at the times that we have been humble and > recognized as such ... doesnt it lead to pride ? > > So when is one truly humble ? > When is one truly humble even when one is recognized as humble ? > > Any thoughts , suggestions, experiences ...I would love to hear from > you. > > Jai Maa > Latha
Guest guest
Pride of action can only come if one is attached to that action. One is truly humble when one has no attachments. When this child can sing or chant the name of God under any circumstance, and know that nothing matters but that pure love and devotion then the attachments would have been surrendered to Her. Thank you Lathaji. Some US president (I think Benjamin Frankklin) too said something similar once: "Even if I were to conceive that I have lost all my pride and become humble which is a truly difficult thing to do, I would still be proud of the fact that I have lost my pride!" very true... I am somewhat cynical about the humility thing, but am willing to be reformed (act of humility, eh?) ... Insofar as I have seen, humility includes, but is not limited to: 1. Awareness and Alertness (so that you don't goof up by showing any ego) 2. An attitude of respect (for all peoples, of all types / races etc) 3. A beginner's outlook to life (so that you learn with an empty head a.k.a an open mind) Why don't you also ask Swamiji also? I would like to hear from a person of his stature also. Jai Ma! Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA Dear All, it seems humility is not something you are, but a byproduct of non- attachment. be concerned only with the intention of your actions, not the outcomes. AMMA's quote of the day today is; "Huge trees are uprooted and buildings collapse in a cyclone, but no matter how strong a cyclone is, it cannot touch the grass. This is the greatness of humility."
