Guest guest
Question from Linda: What does Swamiji recommend if one desires to learn sanskrit? Does he recommend the American Sanskrit Institute or some other teaching tools? Would it not be awesome if Swami wrote a book and/or made some tapes on learning Sanskrit, starting from the most simple to the more complex? I realize there are many layers to any Sanskrit word and that the same word can mean something slightly different, depending on the context. Jai Maa, Jai Swamiji Swamiji's response : There are actually different kinds of meanings: dictionary meaning - vach arth meaning according to an attitude of awareness - bhava arth meaning according to your guru - guru arth meaning according to your school of philosophy - darshan shashtra arth meaning according to your tribe of sadus - sampradayi arth meaning according to your own realization - svadaya arth hidden meaning - gupta arth Latha's footnote : Many of the devotees of the Mandir that are learning sanskrit do not to any particular institute of teaching. We have a sanskrit text book that is used in schools across India, a teacher to walk us through the basic alphabet, construction of grammar and do a lot of our own research.
