Guest guest
I've been slacking, I haven't posted on the Demon of the week yet, but here at long last he is: Baskalo (BASHKALO), AKA Memories. Krista and I watched a movie called, "Along Came Polly." The movie starts with a marriage and a honeymoon where the new bride cheats on her husband. This somehow brought back a lot of similar feelings of betrayal that I have experienced in the past. These memories are not just thoughts, but also the feelings of past thoughts that lay buried and hidden. Mother is always stirring the pot, trying to show us parts of ourselves we hide from, but that's another topic. Memories are also part of the whole "time exists" paradigm. Because we can remember the past we can step out of the present moment, the presence, and get lost in thought about the past. Have your memories plagued you? Have you found yourself lost in the unchangeable past wishing things to be different? What does Baskalo mean to you? Brian --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Namaste Brian, Your question prompted me to share something I read a while ago .. ==================== The Barracuda ============== Scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute did the following study: It's a widely known fact that Barracuda love to eat mullet. Scientists put a barracuda into an aquarium, added a glass partition in the middle and then put a mullet in the other side. Not believing his good luck the barracuda circled a few times, gathered up speed and launched directly at his lunch - the poor unsuspecting mullet. Wham! Bam! Full throttle into the glass partition. Unfazed at this, the barracuda did his preliminary circles and sped off again toward the mullet. Again, Wham! Bang! into the glass partition. Again and again and again he tried. Some weeks later, the scientists noticed the barracuda quit trying to eat the mullet, so they removed the glass partition. Amazingly, the barracuda remained in his side of the aquarium, silently swimming in circles. In fact, the hapless barracuda slowly died of starvation while the lucky mullet swam about in safety just a few inches away! ============================== IMHO, many of us are like that barracuda – hurt, bruised and wounded from many previous collisions with life. Memories are like the glass partition which may or may not be relevant anymore , but yet we allow it to break our spirits. Thanks for the question Jai Maa Latha
Guest guest
Baskalo is a mean and senseless bloke, but he is also cunning. He is greedy, greedy for your present time. The past wants the present -- to gobble it up, yum, yum, yum. But that's not fair, WE are supposed to be eating the present NOW. So, rude Baskalo, leave the devotees alone, or I will ask Chef Durga to Smite Thee with her Large Serving Spoon, or her Spatula of Revolving Time! , Brian McKee <brian@s...> wrote: > I've been slacking, I haven't posted on the Demon of the week yet, but here > at long last he is: > > Baskalo (BASHKALO), AKA Memories. > > Krista and I watched a movie called, "Along Came Polly." Guest guest
Now that is funny. I can almost see my Grandmother in the role as Durga shaking her spatula at me saying, "Get out of there you Memory!" Thanks Steve. The humor really feels good.
