Namaste Jay Dayal,

Jai Durga!

The establishment of the pot is called the kalasa sthaapana. The

establishment of the pot begins with "touch the earth" and ends with

the hymn of the establishment of life(praana pratisthaa suktaa).

We use a coconut for the fruit. The following offerings go on the

coconut so that by the end of the puja your coconut looks like the

Goddess. These are the offerings that go on the coconut:

red powder,(sinhu)

kum kum (also red powder)

sandle paste or powder

tumeric powder(haldi or yellow powder)

scent bath(perfume your choice)

water bath (little ganges water, can sprinkle water from your puja)

cloth(on top of coconut and hangs down the sides)

sacred thread( nine threads)

rudraksha bead

maala(rudraksha or other)

rice(sprinkle a few grains of raw rice on top and around)

flower garland

flower

You will also make charanamrit(5 nectar bath)

1. milk. 2. yogurt. 3. ghee. 4. honey 5. sugar

This will be mixed together into a small bowl. The bowl should be new

or only used for puja. Add a drop of rose water for (scented oil).

You can follow the directions in the book for the rest of the puja.

See "lelihaana mudra" picture and recite the mantras.

Hope this helps a little. If you have more questions please ask.

Namaste Jay Dayal,

Swamiji suggests when you establish a Kalash and perform puja to follow the

order of the offerings as listed for the establishment of the pot. Swamiji makes

the 5 nectar offering

(milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, sugar) in a small bowl. You do not have

to make this offering two times. Swamiji said you could give the

madhuparka bath to Devi later in the puja (yogurt, honey, ghee). You will find

this in the Cosmic puja book (pg.222) You

are right that there are some repetitions.

Hope this helps to clarify some of your questions.
