Guest guest
I read that shri Rama Krishna ji used to bow before a picture of Jesus Christ, Is there any mention of Jesus in Hindu scriptures? There has been some controversy that Jesus had visited India either before or after crucifiction to what extent might that be true. Religion always seems to find a common ground Love, Peace and Compassion

Guest guest
durbaksh, I have read something on this some years ago. There is, apparently, mention somewhere of a young man possessing siddhis that some have suggested was Jesus, but it seems the question of whether Jesus visited India resides in the misty realm of folklore and legend. Of course, most Christians would object to the idea that Jesus did his sadhana in India, but that is the legend. It is said he came to a certain region (I forget) as a young man, and practiced intensively before returning to Israel to begin his mission. After his execution, one of his desciples (Thomas?) came to India (again, I forget where) and established a center of worship. The people there, largely, worship Jesus to this day. Swami Rama wrote of an incident that occured in his youth while visiting this area. I don't recall all the details, but the jist is that he was tossed into jail there (this was during the independence movement) and a deva came to him in his cell at night. Swamiji asked him who he was, and the deva replied that he was Jesus. Swamiji didn't say much about that meeting, just that Jesus assurred him he would be out soon and that no harm would befall him. If you believe such stories, whether or not Jesus did his training in India, it seems he remains present where his worshippers are to this day. For myself, I tend to believe he did do sadhana in India. But then, I have a love affair with India - if not in fact, then at least with the Idea of India as the land of the hamsas. Guest guest
Namaste All, Swami Rama in his book Living with the Himalayan Masters writes of the vision of Christ. Also he writes about a shrine in Kashmir where Jesus is supposed to have lived and a pandit that he met who referred to a manuscript about Jesus Christ written in the Tibetan lanquage that is preserved in a monastery in the Himalayas .
